Logos Publications, is religious book publishing house owned and administered by the members of the Society of the Divine Word as one of their media outfit to assist them in their religious work of spreading the Word of God through modern channels. It began its operation mainly as a print media outlet for the members of the religious group. When it later expanded, it also accepted to carry the works of non-member authors.
The publication company traces its roots from the commercial success of the pre-war Catholic Trade School of Manila as the main printing house of the area and a reliable publisher of many catholic materials needed by the growing Christian population. Later on, the printing press was closed and only the publishing house remained.
Goals and Objectives
Being the publishing arm of the Divine Word Missionaries whose work centers on the preaching of the Word of God, Logos Publications Inc. shares in the religious work of spreading the Good News of Salvation through the printed media such as books, and audio-visual materials.
Logos Publications, wishes to achieve the above stated religious goals through a market development and penetration strategy by promoting consumer books and books in the field of theology, liturgy, Bible, philosophy, catechetics, pastoral works, education, and pastoral psychology that support justice, peace and human development.
Product Offerings
Logos Publications offers to the market inspirational books. To date, some become best sellers, such as those written Fr. Frank Mihalic: 1,000 Stories volumes I and II, The Next 500 Stories, The Storyteller’s Minute, and A Thought for Today; Fr. Jerry Orbos: Moments, Light Moments, Simple Moments, Shared Moments, Just a Moment and Meaningful Moments; and Fr. Bel San Luis: Stories of Life and Laughter, More Stories of Life and Laughter and Some More Stories of Life and Laughter.
Since 2000, Logos Publications has been regularly producing a Bible Diary: The Word in other Words, containing contributions from the members of the Divine Word Missionaries and Missionary Sisters of the Holy Spirit, that becomes available from September each year.
Logos Publications continues to develop products that met the demands and needs of its market. It acquires rights to print books produced by international publishers such as Orbis, Liguori and Twenty-third to add to its pool of valuable literature. These books includes: Prayer that Heals, Walking with Pope Francis, The Seekers Catechism, The Power of Daily Mass, Making Prayer Life, Healing the Soul and others.
True to its roots of being the publishing arm of the Divine Word Missionaries, Logos Publications maintains a wide product mix of academic books on religious studies mostly written by the members of the religious organization. These academic books covers the field of philosophy, theology, Bible, liturgy, catechetics, pastoral works, education, church management, communications, and pastoral psychology, namely Christian Ethics vols I & II by Karl H. Pesche, SVD, Christian Burial Rites, Popular Devotions, Communication Socialis, Lector’s Guide, Elements of Filipino Philosophy etc.
Logos also sells audio materials with songs of secular and religious themes, such as Holy Mass selections of songs that were chronologically arranged from entrance to recessional, Fr Raul Caga’s album: Life is beautiful, Gracious Mercy, Witness to the Word, etc, Musica Sacra, Yours is the Light, DWST Vespers, etc
